Oh my... bird...

Ryan and I were putting laundry away in our bedroom (in his parents basement) and we heard some birds chirping. They sounded really close so Ryan told me to open the blinds and see if they were in the window well. Sure enough there was a little bird sitting on a block in the well with lots of poop all around it- so it had been there for a while. Ryan decided he would save it and went and got a broom. His attempt of getting the bird to stand on the broom so he could lift it out was not working so he told me to open the window and try. Sure enough the bird jumped on the broom and flew straight into the room (even pooed on the window seal) and pretty much all I could do was say the "s" word:) It flew and was trying to land on a wall decoration but fell onto the bed. I never knew having a bird in your room would be so scary...ha ah. Ryan came running in with a towel and rapped it up (it was trying to bite him the whole time) He took it back outside and put it on a bush- Hopefully this little bird will soon learn how to master his flying skills!!! It was pretty funny, and I wish I could have caught some "in-action" pictures of it, but here is the bird and the nest he thought he was big enough to escape from!

Oh the bird stories! I have a small hole in the brick at the back of my house that will get covered up someday when we replace the old run down deck that use to be there. Well, a mamma crawled in that hole (which led to my basement ceiling) and said to herself "this would be a great place for a nest!" Needless to say, we have had a family of baby birds chirping day in and day out in our kitchen floor upstairs. We just couldn't bring ourselves to mess with it. Lovely! Hopefully they won't be back next year!
